The Chesapeake Center
ADHD / Executive Functioning Coaching to improve daily life management.
We engage in EF coaching with high school students, college students, and adults. Many are struggling with the demands of school, work or household management due to ADHD. We do not require a formal ADHD or learning disorder diagnosis to engage in EF coaching, however, if you are an adult that feels frustrated and often struggles to meet the demands of your daily life or career, EF coaching can be very helpful. Our coaches provide the tools to achieve success, but also help teens and adults become more self-reliant and confident through encouragement and support.
EF coaching focuses on real transformation, a process that can take from six months to a year to reach full effect. Our coaches help clients to become more self-aware of patterns that sabotage their goals, to build daily habits that make daily life run more smoothly, and to increase motivation and self-confidence. Your progress in coaching depends upon your goals as well as your challenges. An adult that is highly motivated, but disorganized may need only a few months to develop habits that allow them to better manage their daily life. Those with ADHD, however, typically need coaching for a year or more in order to function independently and to develop and internalize the habits they need to reach long-term goals.
What is the frequency and length of EF coaching sessions?
We tailor coaching to suit the needs of each individual client. Weekly sessions are an expectation in all coaching partnerships, however, in the case of someone that is more challenged, brief reminder emails and/or brief phone calls between weekly sessions may be needed until new habits are firmly established.
