BIPOC Committee

The mission of the Chesapeake Center's BIPOC committee is to address the inadequate access of communities of color to the identification, diagnosis and treatment of ADHD and related conditions.

To achieve this goal, we will offer public education focused on how ADHD treatment can help young adults complete their education and can help individuals of all ages lead more satisfying and productive lives. Our aim is to provide public education and professional continuing education; to build a community with other mental health clinicians of color; and to recruit clinicians of color to improve and expand our services to these communities.

Our Goals

Public Education

Professional Continuing Education

Professional Continuing Education

Our public education initiative aims to empower communities of color with knowledge about ADHD and related conditions. Through workshops, informational sessions, and accessible resources, we strive to demystify ADHD diagnosis and treatment. By highlighting the importance of early diagnosis, we show how effective treatment can enhance educational attainment and overall life satisfaction. Our goal is to ensure that everyone understands the tools available to them, fostering a more informed and supportive community.

Professional Continuing Education

Professional Continuing Education

Professional Continuing Education

We are committed to elevating the standards of care in mental health through comprehensive professional continuing education programs. Our CE offerings focus on culturally responsive practices and the unique needs of diverse communities. By equipping clinicians with the latest research and best practices in ADHD treatment, we aim to enhance their ability to serve individuals of color effectively. Our training sessions promote inclusivity and excellence in mental health care, ultimately benefiting both clinicians and the communities they serve.

Recruiting Clinicians of Color

Professional Continuing Education

Recruiting Clinicians of Color

Building a strong network of clinicians of color is essential to addressing the unique challenges faced by our communities. We facilitate connections and collaboration among mental health professionals through mentorship programs, networking events, and community forums. This supportive environment fosters professional growth and encourages shared learning. Together, we can amplify our voices, share resources, and work collectively to improve access to diagnosis and treatment for ADHD and related conditions, ensuring that our communities receive the care they deserve.
