Whether your child has been evaluated by our center or elsewhere, the feedback session can be an overwhelming amount of information. Often parents are emotional and walk away being unsure of next steps. Before going into an IEP/504 meeting, we recommend scheduling an appointment to develop a plan, understand Diagnosis vs. Functional Impact, and how to implement recommended interventions. We highly suggest that parents follow up after an evaluation to realize the full benefit of the report.

Sometimes when a child has been tested by us or when a child is in psychotherapy with us, it can be beneficial for the therapist or testing psychologist to talk directly with a child’s teacher. This can be done by phone or in person, depending upon the needs and desires of the parents.

A Chesapeake clinician involved with your child can make written recommendations to be considered during an IEP (Individual Educational Plan) meeting or 504 Meeting (a meeting to determine supports and accommodations appropriate for a student diagnosed with ADHD, but not learning differences). If desired, the clinician can participate by

If desired, the clinician can participate by phone in a child’s IEP or 504 meeting. In some cases, parents request that the clinician come in person to participate in the discussion of the child’s needs and how they can best be met.
